A couple of months ago I posted about a board that is at the gym (it is a board dedicated to members and their progress). My trainer approached me on Tuesday night and told me she had been asked by someone about how much weight she thinks I have lost? Well my trainer knows me better than most people so she knows exactly what it is - he went on to ask her if I would be interested in posted my progress on the board. When she was telling me this story I was shocked that someone had noticed my progress - I do get compliments from some people every so often but someone to approach my trainer about it hmmmm..........The reason I am writing about this on my blog is I am not sure if I am ready to put myself out there on this subject. Let me explain - In my mind I am still not worthy enough to share my progress to date as I still have so many goals to meet and I am unsure if I can actually do it - my Mom and trainer said it is like you posting on your blog - not really - my blog is a place I come and post my thoughts for the day (just as I am doing right now)- not somewhere where I am kind of bragging about what I have accomplished and to me to be honest it is my safe place. This board is right out in the open and a lot people at the gym know who I am (since I am there all the time lol) and I am not sure if I am ready to put myself out there for everyone to "see". I know I should be shouting from the roof top about what I have achieved (I have surprised my friend Dee and my trainer Donna this week with the things I can do - I love the look on their faces when I do!) but I am also still not ready to be so open with everyone when I feel I still have work to do. I know I should not be ashamed or embarrassed but that is who I am and I am not sure if I can come out of my shell and be who I should be (I hope this makes since). Have any of you ever had this experience? Any advice on what I should say if I decided to do this?

I say do it.
If you arent yet at the mental place of being comfy tooting your own horn (which, IMO, is so very worthy o'tootage) do it as a good deed.
as what my people call a MITZVAH.
you are so inspiring and will help so many other by putting yourself out there.
cant wait to hear what you decide.
Oh i have to agree!! I say go for it, you will definitely be an inspiration to many :)
I think you should put yourself out there! You've come so far, and you will be an inspiration to others -- people who may need that extra little push. I know it's a big step to "put yourself out there" but it will be so worth it in the long run. And what is that saying "Great risks bring great rewards". And I know you, you are so worthy! And I'm here for ya if you need me! Big Hugs! Lynne
I'm not one to be shy about tooting my own horn...:-)
I think you should do it - you have a lot to be proud of and it might just motivate you further.
Well Tam... I feel your pain LOL I would say post the amount of weight you have lost and the dates, but I don;t think I would put the start weight. No one needs to know what weight you started at; I wouldn;t be comfortable with that either.
you could post your goal, but not how much you need to lose that goal. Just how much you have lost and your goal.
Don and I are losing weight too. we plan a second honeymoon to Hawaii in May and booked coach seats with frequent flier miles. The thought of an 8 hour flight with over 500 lbs of us crushed into 2 coach seats makes me crazy LOL
So we are losing weight. Don has lost over 30 lbs in a month (men lose so much faster than women!! GRRR) I have lost about 6. My goal is a size 12 pants and XL top. I bought a dress at Ross I am hoping to fit into, That's my goal LOL
So hang in there. I really do feel your pain! I miss you, i wish you were here so we could work out together!
Love you! B
Go for it T. You have come a long way from where you were. This will keep you inspired. You will not fail. Small goals is all you have to do, but you have to be consistent. Remember, you have been doing it!!! You r on a roll Honey!! It will be good for all.
Love ya,
Mary
I know just how you feel. Believe me, I went through all of the same emotions when I was approached. (the magazine deal)
I think it is something that you should do if you are comfortable with it. For me that meant not putting out my actual start or current weight, but instead just a loss to date.
I think that you are extremely inspiring and motivating. And that comes from you being you, getting up and making the right decisions for yourself time after time. It's easy to feel "worthy" when you reach a goal - but I don't think that lessens how "worthy" you are during the journey. THAT'S WHERE THE DAILY BATTLES ARE WON AND LOST. And you have EVERY REASON IN THE WORLD to be proud of where you are.
And I that doesn't change if you decide NOT to do this. You can't make the wrong choice.
p.s.
You rock. :)
Wow! How flattering to be asked. Whether you decide to do it or not, enjoy the compliment that was intended!!! You are making great progress and people are noticing your efforts. That takes perseverance and dedication.
If you decide to "go public," do it on your terms. I like Kim's idea of posting your loss and how far you have to go but not the actual weight.
Either way, congratulations!!!!
