So unsure

Hey everyone hope you all had a great weekend mine was very relaxed and much needed. My ankle is giving me more fits this week I am going to see the Doc on Wednesday I am so unsure about the surgery and I have some many questions I need answered before I move forward. Ever feel like everything you do is wrong? That is how I feel right now a lot of things are coming to head this month and I am so stressed about them I don't know where to turn. But I have been turning to food and I AM SO NOT HAPPY! Usually I can distract myself but I am having a hard time with that and I am falling fast. My goal this week is to just try and stay focused and not let me fears and anxiety get me in trouble. Fingers crossed!

Good luck at the Dr. Hope things calm down for you too.

I hope the doctor will be able to answer all of your questions and put your mind at ease regarding the surgery. It's a big deal, and I'm glad that you are not taking it lightly - but it will be nice to get that ankle fixed! Hang in there, Mara.

I know it is WAY freakin harder done than typed (as I live this too :)) but try and focus on the positive and reminded yourself worrying and fear is the act of PRAYING for what you DONT WANT!

Mara - what type of ankle surgery are you having? I've had numerous ankle surguries, and wondered if there was any way I could help.

I had two or three surgeries to remove bone spurs over the last nine years. Any particular reason why bone spurs are growing? I had post-traumatic degenerative arthritis - the spurs grew because my ankle joint was not very happy after a triple-fracture/ dislocation. (Yeah - it wasn't pretty.)

In my humble opionion, crutches suck! After a recent surgery, I discovered the knee walker. It's fabulous! Rollabout was the first brand, I think. I was able to rent one from a medical supply store - Essential was the brand I rented. (Google Essential knee walker and you'll see it.) They are in general more expensive to rent than a wheelchair - but - your insurance may cover it if your doc writes an RX for it. I've had to be non-weightbearing for 8 weeks, and am just beginning to put weight on my ankle today. This thing was a lifesaver!

A bench seat/stool for your shower would probably be a good idea too -it will be nice to sit while you shower if you can't put any weight down on your foot for awhile.

Mara I could go on for days! Let me know if these are helpful ideas, or whether or not I'm just telling you what you already know... I'm also happy to correspond via email if you like.
