The last few weeks I have gotten back into some old habits - eating when I am bored! I am having a tuff time trying to keep myself from eating. I have always had this problem and since I have been on a regular routine of working out I have been taking my focus somewhere else. But since being in the hospital and having to take time off I noticed last night I am right back where I was before eating because I am bored! I kind of find it surprising that I can fall right back into this pattern even though I have worked so hard to keep myself focused on my goals and I know that this is not right.
I was not able to walk last night due to rain but I am hoping tonight will be a different story. My head is not in a good place right now and falling back into the old routine is becoming hard for me - I need to refocus and just keep looking toward the future.

I have a similar problem. Generally I am the type of person who stuggles to focus on anything. Yet, I am able to hyper focus. For good or bad I designed my diet to accomadate this personal flaw.
I know I eat too much when I am bored but it is deeper. Sometimes I am eating and I don't realize I am eating - then snap, I remember I am on a diet.
I also eat when I'm bored, and have been doing it more than usual lately. I'm glad the weather is finally starting to get better so I can start doing things outside and maybe be a little less bored!
Im here.
is there anyway I can helpeth yer head?
Is the rain over? for some reason that ALWAYS nudges my bestlaid plans awry as well.
Don't be too hard on yourself. :) The rain will stop soon and you will be back to your routine. I know it.
Boredom is something I have to watch out for, too. I am OK at home etc, because I always have plenty to do, but if I have a tedious task to do at work, then I get the nibbles.
Finding something to do with your hands that you like, ie. nails, knitting to use my examples, but obviously it has to be something you enjoy.
Hope the weather cheers up for you!
Recognize also that you have had a lot of stress in your life lately, between work and your health issues. Be kind to yourself - you have done incredibly well with your new lifestyle, and this should be only a little blip.
I often eat when bored too, especially if it's weather locking me in, not energy levels or how I'm feeling. I don't do much damage if I eat carrots, red peppers, English Peas, celery, etc. I'm lucky that I actually like that stuff, and I don't really keep anything else that's easy to much around. No cookies, no ice cream, no chips, no frozen pizza (though I could make a pizza, but it'd take an hour, and I'm usually too lazy).
You are having a hard time right now Mara. Don't be so hard on your self, but don't let it go on too long. You know what to do and you know everyone is cheering for you! Do it for yourself, you are worth it.
